Authority files of persons

Authority files serve to uniquely identify a person and help to find the same person with differently written names and to combine different information.

A histHub authority file for a person consists of a persistent identifier (histHub ID), a name (first name / surname), the mention data, and a data provider. If known, additional information such as gender, life data, titles, positions / occupations / functions, geographical references and relations to other persons or organizations, including citations and bibliographical references, may be displayed. All information may be dated. Different opinions, like for instance to a date of birth, are shown in the authority file.
